List of Oils

Oil is a natural material and humans have been using it for centuries. People are not aware of the different types of oil that are used in everyday life. There is a long list of Oils. Oils are of four main categories, mineral oils, heavy oils, light oils, and petroleum. Mineral oil is a mixture of hydrocarbons from coal, heavy oil is thick and viscous made from crude oil.

Light oils are made from organic material and they are further divided into three main types. The three different types of oil i.e. canola, olive, and vegetable. Vegetable oils are extracted from plants such as olives, peanuts, and cottonseeds. Each has specific functions for which they are best suited. Canola oil is great for baking because it has a high smoke point and can withstand higher temperatures than other oils. Petroleum is a mixture of both synthetic and natural gas.
